Bio

A little about me:  I retired from UC Davis in 2011 after a 20+ year career as a practicing Emergency Manager. In addition to a major university, I worked for NGO's, local governments, and a DOE lab I wrote plans, delivered training, developed and conducted exercises, worked my share of real events, did my share of interviews, testified before enough (!) boards, and finally gave up the 24/7 pager when I left.

I received an MS in Emergency Services Administration from CSU-Long Beach and a BS in Communication Studies from Sonoma State University. I maintain my professional certifications (CEM and CBCP) and my membership on several committees for IAEM.  Currently, I teach in the CSULB MS program in Emergency Services Administration. I spend most of my time with those students embarking on the chaos of writing a thesis.
