The Community and Member Engagement Committee and Government Affairs Committee are excited to invite you to a special IAEM Watch Party for the Netflix premiere of A House of Dynamite, an apocalyptic political thriller film debuting Friday, October 24. The premise: when a single, unattributed missile is launched at the United States, a race begins to determine who is responsible and how to respond.
This is a great opportunity to come together as a profession, spotlight the role of Emergency Management, and engage the public in understanding how our field supports Continuity of Government, resilience, and national preparedness.
    How to Participate
Stream A House of Dynamite on Netflix on Friday beginning at 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT.
Join the online conversation in real-time using #AHODWatchParty, #IAmEM and #IAEMatTheMovies.
Share your thoughts, favorite moments, and professional takeaways about emergency management, continuity, and public service.
Post on your preferred platforms - X, LinkedIn, Threads, or BlueSky are great places for thoughtful discussion.
    Conversation Starters
How does emergency management sustain continuity of government and essential services during crises?
What parallels can we draw between the themes in the film and the evolution of civil defense into modern emergency management?
Share historic civil defense images, preparedness posters, or continuity plans that highlight how far the profession has come.
Participate in #ReelVsReal by breaking down what's fact vs. fiction in the film - where does Hollywood get it right about emergency management, and where could we set the record straight?
This voluntary event is coordinated by IAEM's Community & Member Engagement Committee and Government Affairs Committee as part of our mission to amplify the voice of emergency management through storytelling, advocacy, and awareness.
Let's make some noise for our profession - and have some fun while doing it!
