Learn how you can leverage communications to help communities prepare for disasters at a virtual event on Sep. 23 from 2:30-4:00 p.m. ET.

FEMA is hosting a "Climate Week NYC: Communicating Disaster Preparedness Webinar" to discuss strategies for communicators to help communicators prepare for emerging and existing hazards. This event will build upon the conversations and successes of the 2024 Risk Communications, Crisis Communications and Community Engagement Summit.

As a part of Climate Week NYC, presenters will share successful strategies to communicate risk and inspire preparedness action in the face of increasingly frequent hazards-an alarming consequence of climate change. The webinar will include takeaways from the Risk Communications, Crisis Communications and Community Engagement Summit report. A panel of risk and crisis communicators will apply these lessons to examples of successful community engagement and risk communications for disaster preparedness. The webinar will also include an update on FEMA's 2024 National Preparedness Month, including Ready Campaign resources, and a community-based engagement case study.

This event is a valuable opportunity for risk and crisis communicators, community leaders, emergency management professionals, and stakeholders involved in disaster preparedness.

Participants will learn strategies for creating preparedness awareness and activities that help communities plan for disasters and build resilience amid the climate crisis. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions to support communications best practices related to developing and sharing critical preparedness messaging.

Registration is required. Register at: Climate Week NYC: Communicating Disaster Preparedness Webinar | FEMA.gov.
