The House Appropriations Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies (CJS) will be marking up the appropriations bill that funds the National Weather Service on Wednesday, June 26, at 8:30a.  The markup can be streamed here.

The bill text has not yet been released, but it should be posted prior to the markup.  I will share the numbers once I receive them.

The House Appropriations Committee is scheduled to markup the bill that funds the National Weather Service tomorrow morning.  Here is the committee report (see page 35)..  It will take a little time to fully digest it, but at first glance, the numbers are better than expected. In fact, the topline number for NWS was $26 million over the FY24 enacted level, but some of that is designated for earmarks.  Operations came in at the level of the President's budget request which is a win for the field forecasters.

The House Appropriations Committee approved the CJS appropriations bill on July 9.  It will now move to the House floor for a vote sometime before the end of July.  This is the bill that funds NOAA and the National Weather Service.
