The House Appropriations Committee approved the CJS appropriations bill on July 9. It will now move to the House floor for a vote sometime before the end of July. This is the bill that funds NOAA and the National Weather Service.
Here is a link to the Committee's press release.
While the news is mostly good for the NWS, please continue to communicate with your elected officials about the importance of the NWS to the daily work of emergency managers. Resources to help with your outreach are available on the website.

The House Appropriations Committee is scheduled to markup the bill that funds the National Weather Service tomorrow morning. Here is the committee report (see page 35).. It will take a little time to fully digest it, but at first glance, the numbers are better than expected. In fact, the topline number for NWS was $26 million over the FY24 enacted level, but some of that is designated for earmarks. Operations came in at the level of the President's budget request which is a win for the field forecasters.
The full committee markup is tomorrow morning at 9:00 ET. You can stream it here.
