The House of Representatives and the Senate are in the process of getting organized for the 119th Congress. The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will convene on January 15 for its organizational meeting and there will be a number of new names and faces on the Committee.
The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure has a broad jurisdiction over issues related to transportation, infrastructure, and economic development. Within this scope, its emergency management responsibilities are focused on federal policies and programs for disaster preparedness, response, and recovery, particularly through oversight of FEMA and the Stafford Act.
The Republicans have released the list of names that will be serving on the Committee during the 119th Congress. If your Member of Congress is on this list, please make a point to reach out to invite them to watch an exercise or to tour your EOC. These are the people who will be most directly involved in making policy decisions that directly impact emergency management, so let's get to know them and educate them about what you do on a day-to-day basis to make their constituents safer.
