IAEM has joined a coalition of associations urging the Department of Homeland Security to publish the Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFO) for the preparedness grants as soon as possible to ensure obligation prior to the end of the fiscal year. Grants should have been made available for application on or before May 16, 2025, and yet there has been no action from FEMA/DHS. Please see the attached letter addressed to Secretary Noem.
One of the key benefits of the advocacy efforts by IAEM during last week's Hill Day 2025 was the opportunity to meet with congressional leaders and staff and establish relationships. We are now reaching out to those representatives who are on the Emergency Management Subcommittee. This is particularly important as the subcommittee will be holding an oversight hearing on July 23. We need these representatives to question FEMA and determine when the grant applications will be released. This follow-up is crucial to ensure that our concerns are addressed and that we can continue to support our emergency management initiatives effectively.
